Properties of algebra: reflexive property - something is equal to itself. Commutative property - sums of products are reversed. (does not work with subtraction: commutative part of addition - Associative property - outside variables pushes itself in and the far inside variable goes out. Ex: a+(b+c) = (a+b)+c (m+n)+w = m+(n+w: distributive property - multiplication or a quantity or amount. Additive identity - the additive identity of any number is zero. Zero added to any number results with that number. 12+0= =12: additive inverse - of any number is is the opposite sign value of number. A number added to its inverse results with zero. W= 17: multiplicative identity - the multiplicative identity of a number is one times any number is that number. 1x9= 9: multiplicative inverse - multiplicative inverse of any number is one over that number. A number multiplied by its inverse is equal to one.
