Social science & empiricism: cause and effect, interpretation and debate. All of the various social sciences employ logic and reason and take an empirical approach. The purpose of social science is to better understand the world we live in. Only way to prove things certainly is through mathematical proofs. Many things cannot be proven, but there are guesses on how things will turn out. (cid:862)histor(cid:455) repeats itself(cid:863), is an inaccurate phrase. He meant that you cannot predict the future, but you can learn from past mistakes. You can make wiser choices by looking at past problems and their outcomes. Using logic, reason, and empiricism, there is not only one way to use social science. There is (cid:374)o si(cid:374)gle (cid:862)right(cid:863) (cid:449)a(cid:455) to look at so(cid:272)ieties.
