In 1968 massachusetts general hospital set up one of the rst remote clinics using closed circuit television. This clinic was set up at logan airport in response to a plane crash on october 4, 1960 where many died due to delays in medical attention. This clinic demonstrated that tele diagnosis could increase the availability of quality care. Telemedicine is a term that is used when one is referring to a traditional clinical diagnosis and monitoring that is delivered by technology. The goal is to make a clinical diagnosis and to monitor it. Now, since the early 2000s it has been referred to more as telehealth because it is not only about diagnosis, but it is also about management and education. It is now used in dentistry, rehab counseling, ot, home care, to monitor chronic diseases. De nition: federal and state agencies differ on how they de ne telehealth.
