Family members take care of eachother even in the face of certain circumstances. Brother came back for sister even though he left her. Stories give you the nature of family identity and values; family"s imge of itself; what they think is special. Children are brave independent in the story she told. Family"s organization and power structure father in the story has power both in his family of origin and in the stories told. Family stories give nature of marriage and intimacy. Stories about wedding day about parent"s marriage etc.
