Discovers finches on the galapagos islands, comes to the conclusion that evolution made all their beaks different. Wrote a book in 1859 that got him noticed, the origins of species. Malthus, an essay on the principle of population. Not authority, intuition, emotion, mysticism, superstition, and faith. Someone (authority / expert) told you personally or you read it somewhere language , cultural traditions, past wisdom. Ethical, some things are not right, also your intuition. Evidence gathered from senses or experience, empiricism.
