Document Summary
The great depression and the new deal week 4. Primary document/exhibit source: from dawn to sunset film. Roland marchand, creating the corporate soul: the rise of public relations and corporate. Imagery in american big business, (berkeley: the university of california press, 1998), 241- Entitled from dawn to sunset, this fast-paced, crisply edited film recounted the daily lives of chevrolet assembly-line and office workers. Viewers first followed the prosaic routines of men rising, shaving, and eating breakfast. As they emerged from the doors of their substantial small-town and suburban houses, they quickly formed a larger and larger phalanx of eager, energetic men parading down the tree-lined streets toward the factory. A swelling chorus of voices expressed in song their joyous anticipation of the workday ahead. An undefiant viewer could not credibly have associated this company with the sitdown strikes of only a few months before.
