Non -probability sampling that approximate representative samples: haphazard. Convenience is the basis on which subjects/cases are included: quota. Intentionally include representation of different categories of people or sites in your study. But not with an exact probability of inclusion: snowball. Use referrals from other subjects/cases to identify additional subjects/cases. Non-probability sampling that has a theoretical rationale. Cases that can be taken as paradigmatic of a certain concept or theory. Collecting data from people or institutions that are not near where you live and work. Typically involves reviewing documents produced in the period of interest. Can also involve oral accounts of the past. Research directly observe and participate in a setting. Research studies people in their natural environment. Ability to explain research in laymen"s term. Being open to delay, renegotiation, or reconsidering research plan. Not just what people say to you. What people say to each other or do. Context for various types of events or behaviors.
