A global civil society is fully dependent on the investments of large businesses and the flow of money in exchange for goods within an economy. The objectives of a global civil society are to bring forth international issues and problems in order to reform powerful actors (cohen, Neoliberal economic globalization is the cause for widespread controversy because it frequently tends to diminish input from the majority of civilians. The has lead to the formation of organizational groups who work transnationally and whose sole purpose is to resist global order. This is exemplified through the creation of the world social forum (wsf) which was established in opposition of the world economic forum (wef). Wsf, there were the zapatistas who also opposed economic globalization and revolted through protests, the media and even warfare tactics. Through a global civil society, political issues debated within the population are brought to the attention of the government which reinforces the practice of democracy.
