Anxiety disorders: highly prevalent condition, roughly 20% of the us population probably qualifies for this, chronic, troublesome feelings of excessive apprehension and anxiety, gad, phobic disorders, panic disorder, ocd, fear vs. anxiety. The response lasts for a longer period than 6 months and causes distress or impairment. Prevalence (7-9%: more common in adolescents when compared to other age groups, can result after a traumatic experience or observing a traumatic event, social anxiety disorder. Fear or anxiety about 1 or more social situations in which exposed to possible scrutiny by others: conversations, being observed, performing, children must display this amongst peers, not just adults. Fear acting in a way that will be negatively evaluated by other or show anxiety in front of others. These individuals desire social interactions very much but their anxiety impedes them from doing so: panic disorder, recurrent or unexpected panic attacks.
