What is really important is the volition (or intention- good will ) Principle and object of will action consequence. Consequence is not what we should look at in our moral evaluation. Shop keepers volition is to look out for his best interest, but doesnt want to over charge customers, so he doesnt over charge customers (good will), but he may make less money. It can give you pleasure to help someone else, but it may not be in your best interest. Kahn: you should do what is right because it is your duty. Rational beings alone have the faculty of acting according to the conception of laws (have a will) . From this idea can we infer what the concept of morality is (what is right?) Hypothetical imperative (imperative of instrumental rationality): i should always use the best means to achieve my goals. Checking prices of a good in other stores to get the cheapest price.
