Many dsm disorders that are internalizing and overlap often - high comorbidity. Development matters a lot for these conditions (ie. how old are they is most important. Rdoc (research domains criteria) - set of dimensions vs. set of diagnoses, multiple levels of analysis. Fear - an actual stimulus, elephant is running toward me. Anxiety - anticipating a fear response, thinking what if the elephants break out of the zoo today. Panic - most concentrated fear and anxiety you can feel, in absence of actual danger. Symptoms similar to suffocating, having a heart attack, losing control. Agoraphobic (fear of going outside/a particular place) may result from a panic attack to restrict yourself to prevent a panic attack. Physiological - sweat, high heart and respiration rate, somatic markers (ie. dry mouth), hormone release. Cognitive - search for threat, vigilance, low concentration, images of harm to self or others. Behavioral - trembling, fidgeting, crying, avoidance of feared stimulus.
