Most health care is paid by someone else at the point of service. Every dollar of health care spending equals someone else"s dollar of health care income, including fraud and abuse. Most health care expenditures are for hospital care. 75% are covered by insurance, 66% is publicly dinanced. 1/3 of healthcare expenditures may be spent on unproductive care. Acting principle: doing more, or at least something, is better than doing nothing. Health expenditures have increased dramatically between 1960 and 2016. What accounts for the largest share of healthcare expenditures: prescription drugs, nursing homes/home health care, physician/clinical care, hospitals. The united states spends more per capita on health care than any other country. Is this fully explained by higher income per capita in the united states: yes, no. Health expenditures per person is based on 5 persons. Us has lower expected life compare to other developed country. High calorie and high-sugar diet coupled with less physical activity.
