All media are texts that can be read for meaning. Reading requires an active process of interpretation. Media texts are representation that help construct our realities. To generate the trends, maybe the new terms, vocabularies, sense of humor, which are become our part of life. Goal: elevate people from preferring low are to appreciating high . But: who gets to make the distinctions being between good & bad . Eg: so a coppola makes history as second female director to win at . And: whose tastes get marginalized in trying to protect people from bad media. Eg: parents always want their children to stay away from the sexual and violate ads, medias,etc cause they think those medias are bad for children. Accounts for: multidirectional & uid routes / individual preferences. Illustrate use as familiar or unfamiliar / comforting or challenging. Dystopian view = medium/genre is bad or was good but it"s getting worse.
