In response, they planned a march on washington (phillip randolph) Terrible race riot in detroit during housing crisis and then later in harlem (killed 6 aa"s) Worst disaster was in bay area (port chicago) Munitions depot was taking greasy bombs from railroad cars. One blew up and killed some of the workers (most were black sailors) So blacks decided not to work for them bc of unsafe conditions: mexican americans: zoot suit riots, bracero program. At first, they were shoved back to mexico (even citizens) but now they want them to be recruited to work in usa (bracero program) Went to mexico city to get some workers in america.
