Document Summary

Pre-lab assignment: volumetric pipet, describe the proper method of pipetting. Use a rubber bulb to draw the liquid into the pipet, and use the index finger over the top of the pipet to control the liquid flow. Make sure the pipet is clean by rinsing with distilled water. A clean pipet will run smooth and clear. Use the rubber bulb to blow out water from the tip. Pour solution into a clean dry beaker, making sure there is enough solution to fill the volume of the pipet you are using and to do three rinses. Rinsing is done by drawing up a portion of solution and wetting all surfaces by rotating the pipet horizontally making sure the solution goes above the estimated line, rinsing away any water or containment that would dilute your solution. Fill the pipet approximately two centimeters above the estimated line. Wipe the barrel with a clean tissue to prevent transfer from outside the pipet.
