Mostly everything known about this region comes from the voyager probes. Everything known about uranus is from voyager 2. Known because of a distinct lack of large numbers of craters. Tectonic activity has occurred here with ice. Enceladus has transform faults on its ice surface. Tethys, titania, triton all have cracks, indicating prior tectonic activity. Deepest and longest canyon in the solar system. Anything more massive or hotter than earth cannot sustain plate tectonics. Tectonics requires a hot interior and a solid crust. Area in between fault lines is sunken down. Mercury has one very large cliff (long scarp) Venus has two continents with a lot of steep edges. Steep edges are characteristic of tectonic plates. Plates moving away from each other, exposing magma and creating a mountain ridge. One plate move beneath another plate, creating mountains. Total amount of material built up is equal to the total amount subducted.
