Has to do with percept what is in the mind vs. what is in the world. Our experiences is/are a big distant of what we experience. Anthropological idea of culture: collective idea of representations. In amerindian cosmology: bodies are distinguished by what they can do, not by form (constructed from western-biological perspective). The shamans are able to metamorphose into other bodies and come back. *metonym: a way of meaning something by drawing contiguity. Reps as being part of the whole (i. e. white house is a metonym for presidency) More literal in the sense of spatial relations (compared to metaphor) i. e. when we encounter something cultural = metonym for something natural.
