The last link of the sound chain. A device that helps us evaluate the quality of every sound. A device that reproduces all sounds linearly (not really) Large speakers capable of reproducing low frequencies, cant reproduce high frequencies very well, and vice versa. Is a transducer: converts one type of energy (electric) into another type (acoustic) Types of loudspeakers: moving-coil (most common, ribbon, electrostatic (home/hifi) Anatomy: cone made of paper of plastic, basket metal frame around the speaker, voice coil electromagnetic coil of wire, spider holds the coil in place. Woofers & tweeters: woofers, biggest cones, produce low frequencies, tweeters, smallest cones, produce high frequencies. Crossover: the crossover frequency is the point where the frequency spectrum is divided into low and high frequencies, and sometimes mid, types, depends on where the power amp is, active. Amplifier(s) built-in to loudspeaker cabinet: passive.
