Tues. 6/2 christian history: first century to the enlightenment. Looking at the way historical person: jesus (jesus christ into religion) the transition from jesus of nazareth to jesus christ. Summary of transition became the religion of christianity gradually. His followers were jews (living with him) Famous line: believe him to be the messiah roman god, who has faith in him that he is the holy person --ability to heal. Began with one small ethnic group in palestine. Not just his 12 apostle, it was relatively small regional movement. After he died, christianity was still relatively small. Some people still need some stories to prove that jesus was resurrected. After he is gone, story of pentecost, very small group of jewish followers. They have mystical experience of holy spirit, speaking in tongue, the first gathering as the christian church (mythical experience) Story of jesus is still pass down through word of mouth. Father thinks there were some text written down.
