Document Summary

Role construct repertory grid test we completed at the beginning of class. Putting him into broader perspective different theorists/schools of thoughts we have talked about have focused on different aspects. The person"s body (hippocrates) obvious: most superficial thing you can see. Understanding of reality (kelly) everybody sees reality for what it is. Didn"t think this was how we should think about it. We see reality each in our own way. Kelly said we must look at how they understand reality in order to know a person. Had a bs in physics and math and an ma in sociology. Phd in experimental psychology in the 1930s. Various versions of his theory were published. Whole journal established for people doing studies following up on his ideas. Construct (each individual constructs it/makes it up/creates it) = concept = noun. For kelly, the construct is the noun. It is the part of reality we use nouns for. To construe = to conceptualize = verb.
