Some ideas in science are nasty or horrible, but that is neither here nor there. When copernicus said that earth went around the sun, everyone thought the idea was horrible the idea that we are not the center of the universe. Nevertheless, it turned out to be true. When darwin said humans are at a long chain of evolution our ancestors are monkeys. People found that incredibly offensive didn"t agree with scripture or common sense. In the end, can"t decide truth/falsity based on how offensive something is: what he says is unbelievable. For many years, up until the 1960s, psychologists rejected the idea that there could be an unconscious mind. They thought that if you had a mind, by definition it was conscious.
