Men could not be a nurse in the military, pick a decade, 50s, almost the 60s. After wwii: aunt in the navy, wounded, set up as icu, had to get up and down on stools, but had to wear uniformed dresses, nurses shoes, sneakers, on your feet constantly. Nyc: not to be in there, saw a problem and formed an entire organization, lillian wold. Licensure: 30s when they first licensed nurses. Really really impacted by regulation: those are the things that we will be talking about in things in the furture. History of nursing profession: confusion about what a nurse did, history and why we are so trusted. Where does it come from: a lot of nurses were nuns, long religious history. Helped: religion and health interconnected, as knowledge grew and do somethings. Interested in how people are being bathed and healthy: order that wasn"t cloistered. And seeing what was in her basket, there were white/red roses appreared.
