Conjugated double bonds go in a pattern of double bond, single bond, double bond, etc. The special organic polymer is colored and conducts electricity whereas most organic compounds are white and don"t conduct. Depending on how long the chain is, you can change the color of the compounds. It can be about as conductive as any metal. The 2000 nobel prize in chemistry was awarded for this discovery and characterization. Some plastic materials can be made to low under heat and pressure. We referred to these as thermoplastics (liqueied and can be poured under heat). Compression molding: heat and pressure are applied directly to the polymer power (often how polymers are produced) in the mold cavity. Transfer molding: the polymer is softened irst before it is poured into the mold. Injection molding: the plastic is melted and forced by a plunger into cold molds to set.
