Force depends on length: needs to be a lot of overlap: many cross bridges. Non linear association: ascending and descending limb to tension length curve. Need to produces more force in lengthening than shortening. Force (muscle torque)< (load torque): lengthening contraction. At end of sarcomere, being stretched: acts like rubber band. Same amount of force at any velocity: doesn"t matter how fast you pull it. Concentric: none of elastic force can be used to generate force. Reduce muscle activation for same amount of force: passive. Going down is more sore than going up: decelerating mass. Slowing mass down: absorb energy from muscular lengthening. Muscles generate variable amounts of tension contraction. Twitch summation: twitch is contraction of 1 muscle fiber. Space out stimulation: even peaks in force. Muscles acting without moving levers/without skeletal element to transmit force. Tongue: hydrostat: acts like tube with own brain. Red line against tube, or straight down middle.
