FORS 4355 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Forensic Anthropology, Forensic Pathology, Reasonable Doubt
Document Summary
Binetti | fors 4355 | fall 2017 | lecture 2 | page 1. Revise syllabus with corrected dates is up on canvas. The show bones is not real or accurate. It"s so bad that it"s actually funny: did make fun of itself eventually which is why it"s so popular. What even is that: gives students a very false expectation about the field that they"re studying. Reasonable doubt is totally okay: you never get a 100%, full-body picture, there is never a single, perfect answer, even dna is somewhat inaccurate. Forensic anthropologists are not crime scene investigators: don"t collect evidence, personal effects, etc, don"t talk to the press, don"t act without the authorities or cops present (except under very special circumstances) Supervise grace search to make sure evidence isn"t compromised. All anthropologists are some sort of expert at removing things from the ground. Maintain very little authority on cases: mostly just lab techs specialized in bones.
