Fixed mindsets can be either positive or negative. Most people have fixed negative attitudes towards math. You can create a growth mindset as part of your classroom culture. Answers: the actual number of equation answer to the problem. Solutions: an explanation of your answer and how you know it is correct. Give students five minutes to play with them beforehand. Cover the basics (don"t eat them; don"t throw them; etc. ) Have students put manipulatives away before beginning discussions. Different ways of counting can be expressed by the same answer, but the solution is different. Equivalent expressions are equations that can be reduced down to the same simplest form.
