Grandparents : adults spend as much as 1/3 their lifespan as grandparents, beliefs, values, and standards. Grandmothers are most involved and report a higher satisfaction rate form being a grandparent: maternal grandparents. Children are closer to them because women keep closer contact with their families than men after leaving the home: typically bond closer between same-sex, maternal grandmother-granddaughter bond is strongest. Social class/ethnic factors : low income families. Grandparents play a huge role in helping out the family: children in single parent families. Grandparents watch children so the parent can have time to work/run errands/self care: african-american/asian/hispanic grandparents. Grandparents are in charge of all of these issues: grandmother group. Support group for grandparents that are taking care of their children: most grandparents do not have a close relationship with their great-grandchildren. Due to the fact that grandparents are much older at this point so they might not have the opportunity to be able to form a relationship.
