Chapter 13 - early adulthood: physical and cognitive. Demographics of higher education : race, gender, age. College enrollment by race : minority students are increasing in enrollment. Black students will increase by 13% (mostly females) College enrollment by gender : more women enrolled than men. 166 black women/100 black men: from 1995-2007. Men"s enrollment increased 13: auburn (2015) College enrollment by age : 1/3 of college students are above the age 24, 26% of students taking college courses for credit in us are 25-35, 36% of community college students are over 30. Bene ts of college attendance : self-understanding, enhanced self esteem, firmer sense of identity. Trends in undergraduate education : problem-based learning, service-learning, community and civi engagement minor, learning communities. Gender and college performance : classes fully high populated with men: Math: classes usually highly populated with women: Intimidating because women aren"t the same about all the men and feel like they are held to a different standard.
