Document Summary

Kinetic energy of motion: ke=1/2(mv^2, units are joules= kg*m^2/s^2. Energy cannot be created or destroyed, but can be transformed from one form to another: total amount of energy in universe never changes or is infinite. Work is a link between force and energy. Fx is the x comoponent of the force and deltax is the object"s displacement. ^^this equation does not show the time it took for displacement to occur or velocity or acceleration. Work as well as energy is a scalar quantity. When force is perpendicular to the displacement than the work done by force is zero: example is carrying a pale of water from a well to a house. The force is vertical and the displacement is horizontal, therefore the work is. If there are multiple forces acting on an object than the total work done is the sum of the amount of work done by each force.
