The british used justifications that they were benevolent rulers of india and africa. Britain and france are willing to give up their colonies because they were losing money a. Fight the nazis to fight evil and racism- british say this. Colonial soldiers thought they were fighting for freedom. When the war is over the soldiers that survive aren"t treated well by the british- they"re given a ride home, a pat on the back, and they can keep their uniform. They began to gain confidence in themselves after military service, it gave them critical experience: economic effects. If you were unemployed, being in the army might help- the family has one less person to feed, you can send money back home. The poor families could look to this as a positive benefit.
