Contagious - the rapid widespread diffusion throughout a population. Stimulus - underlying principle of a characteristic spreads although characteristic failed. Things you cannot touch, see, or feel. Formal region - everyone shares in common one or more distinctive characteristics like language or climate (usually exceptions) Core - periphery is where the traits are easily identified. As you get farther away from the center, the traits are harder to see. All will have at least one node. Area organized around a node that dominates at the central focus.
