Way parts work together to create an overall effect. Overall set of relationships among a films parts. How a film"s parts are organized, arranged, and placed together to encourage the viewer to understand the work, consider it"s meaning, and react accordingly. Narrative form: overall form that emerges from a pattern in story- and plot oriented elements. Stylistic form: overall form that emerges from patterns in mis-en- scene, cinematography, sound, and editing. Emotions represented in a film: the characters" emotional reaction to the mention of someone"s name tells us what to expect when we meet that individual. Emotions experienced by the audience member: affect how interested in the story we are, how suspenseful something is, etc . Meaning is what a film says or suggested, its larger significance. Ask yourself how all the film"s meanings relate to each other in order to understand overarching meaning and form.
