Gender dysphoria is rare, with males showing this disorder more often than females. In gender dysphoria, the primary goal is not sexual, but the desire to live one"s life openly in a manner consistent with the opposite gender: disorders of sex development intersexed individuals people born with. Must distinguish from: ambiguous genitalia and hormonal abnormalities: hermaphrodites a person or animal having the sexual organs of both males and females. Gender dysphoric individuals have no physical abnormalities, which is the case with intersex individuals (i. e. , hermaphrodites: homosexual arousal patterns gender dysphoria also is not synonymous with homosexual arousal patterns. There are no known biological contributions (it is unclear) to the development of gd, though higher levels of testosterone or estrogen at certain critical periods of development might masculinize a female fetus or feminize a male fetus.
