Stomach is stapled up to reduce its capacity to hold food so overweight individual must restrict intake. Usually reserved for people who are 100% overweight. Cognitive behavior therapy (cbt)- combat maladaptive eating behavior. Screening for readiness to lose weight to find match to treatment program. Trained to self monitor and keep careful records of eating, when they eat, how much, where, etc. Defines behavior and makes clients aware of eating patterns. Behavioral analysis focuses on influencing antecedents of target behavior- stimuli affecting eating.
