Child development: cross-sectional and longitudinal studies, we know that change is a given in this course (especially over time, there are two powerful designs that allows us to view change (1) cross-sectional. Looks at 2 or more age groups at the same time: compare the moral value system of 5-year-old (preschool) to 7-year-old in (2nd grade) Where do we get our beliefs: parents, society, testimonials/ friends/ professors/ authoritative figures, genes and environment, from our limited biased experiences. Done in relatively short period of time. But doesn"t look at change = looks at differences between a & b. The 62 cohort are part of the baby boomer (free love!) and thus choose marijuana as their drug of choice. The 22 cohort are part of technology era (party hardy!) and thus choose alcohol as their drug of choice. Those of older age group cohort like burbon, baby.
