The u. s. is allies with a majority of the middle east: allies: morocco, libya, egypt, yemen, bahrain, saudi arabia, oman, uae, qatar, iraq, jordan, israel, lebanon, turkey. Turkey is also a part of nato, which is the main reason why the russia-turkey border disputes are potentially a large issue. o. Working relations with algeria, sudan, and recently, somewhat with iran. The us and saudi arabia have had a long alliance (since world war ii). Nature of the relationship: mainly concerned with oil. o o. Saudi arabia"s main enemy is iran, and the us has formed working relations (not an alliance) with iran. There is a bill before congress to allow families affected by 9/11 to sue saudi-arabia for damages. The united states military does not want this bill to pass because this will set up precedent which could allow for people from other countries to sue the united states. o.
