They choose to live a totally sedentary lifestyle. As a result of these lifestyles, we are a more overweight and unfit nation than ever before. Our sedentary (sit-around) lifestyle has developed into a society that is experiencing an ever-increasing number of hypokinetic diseases: hypokinetic diseases pose a real threat to the health of our nation. Improper lifestyle choices account for 51% of the deaths in the u. s: these diseases include, but are not limited to, coronary artery disease, hypertension, obesity, osteoporosis, maturity onset diabetes, ulcers, stress, and low back pain. Hypokinetic diseases are costing our health care systems billions of dollars: for example, more money is spent annually treating heart disease than any other illness. Hypokinetic diseases also take a toll on the quality of life that individuals may anticipate. Physical fitness may be defined as the general capacity to adapt and respond favorably to physical effort.
