You ingest food, water, go through metabolic processes which produce waste, get drugs, toxins, need to be processed and anything we don"t need should be excreted. Excreted via urine (any water not needed, any salt, any waste of metabolism (urea), toxins, drugs (medicinal, and illegal) Urine: health of our body indication; how much water=how hydrated you are, how much urea-how much metabolism your body has; medicinal drugs in urine=tells doctors if they are giving you the right dosage. Hormones turn up in urine: human chronic gonadotropin hormone (hcg); pregnancy hormone only present in urine if pregnant, it"s produced in such high conc. that it"s excreted in urine; used for pregnancy testing kit. Things that shouldn"t be there also show up in urine: e. g. blood, lots of glucose, or proteins (urine analysis- tells what"s normal, and what"s not)
