KFC, Walmart Canada Latest to Commit to Plastic Use Reduction
Plastic waste has been an ongoing issue for quite some time for both consumers and
environmentalists, and the companies are the sufferers. However, KFC the fast-food chain
says that all packaging with plastics that the consumer is facing can be recovered and reused
by 2025. Walmart Canada also made the same proposal that they will be reducing the plastic
bags and by 2025 about 1 billion bags will be out of circulation. They will replace it with the
use of paper bags by 2020. These two companies are using the strategy of corporate social
responsibility, which is when the company focuses on the betterment of the social and
environmental responsibilities to earn a profit. Taking it to the next step of going green
consumers will most likely choose these companies as they are helping the environment by
emitting the use of hazardous materials for the world. Moreover, KFC also said that the
change is doable if you put your mind to it and not only does it benefit the world and the
environment it is also helping to get a profit for the company and the shareholders. This
approach is also targeting investors for the company as well. Shareholders get interested in
the company and want to be a part of it as they are protecting the environment. The
companies are taking responsibility for their decision to recycle goods and benefiting society
and the environment.
