Verstehen = empathy: what is feels like, ex/ football: what does a hit feel like, what does the helmet feel like after sweating, feeling of throwing the ball. Methodology = path: start from whatever to understanding the topic. The research is conducted through social sciences involving social meaning. Qualitative analysis is a craft, researchers work within guidelines but w/o set rules, allowing for great flexibility within which to work.
