SOSC 2000 Lecture Notes - Lecture 10: Vise
Document Summary
The global meat consumption has been growing with time. Tin 1961, the per capita meat consumption was 23kg per annually compared to today which is almost doubling. The meat consumption patterns have a lot of disparities. There are places where meat is consumed at a very high rate though representing a small population. Zealand, australia, argentina, canada and western europe command the population with the greatest consumption. Places like africa and asia are the ones consuming less amount yet commanding very high population. This can be attached to the level of income in that, the higher the level of income, the higher the consumption and the vise versa is true. Firstly, the population of animals and the living status of people. Initially, the demography of the world was low and hence low meat consumption. Today, the increase of population has prompted the increase of other alternatives of meat.
