Sosc 1520 - the evolution of liberal democracy. The kratos (rules) of society are decided on by the demos (people) of society. Democracy has been used to justify many forms of democratic socialism. Democracy is a very strong normative concept. Democracy is any form of government in which the rules of society are decided by the people who will be bound by them". Common: authority begins and ends with public. Theories are always written by someone for some people. Theory is always for someone and some purpose (robert cox) Theory can be used (consciously or unconsciously) as a guide for action. It started in greece because it was a relatively strong military idea and there was about 250,000 were in athens and only about 100,000 were part of this group. If you were a citizen, you had the duty to vote in the institutions. Taking part in the democracy was a political expectation.
