SOSC 1000 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Hermeneutics
Document Summary
Phenomenology is the study of the essence or the origin of what it is you are observing in front of you while bracketing out one"s biases around that thing you are observing. He will have to bracket his own personal lifestyle, background experiences, behavior, and then study phenomenologically how does a poor guy spends his life, and only then would he able to act as a poor guy. Let say the same actor now has to perform as a business man , he now will have to again bracket his lifestyle and bahavior andlearn how might a businessman lives, acts, behaves. And only then would he be able to perform his role as a business man phenomenologically. Another example would be if a teacher were to observe and teach his students, this teacher is a racist and has stereotype within his mind about how black students should behave.
