Made it easier for people to get divorced. The divorce act, however, was more constrained in its structure. There were provisions in place and conditionalities attached to it. In 1986, more reasons were available to get a divorce, one of which was marital breakdown. In 1986, canada implemented the divorce act which considered marital breakdown as grounds for divorce. Following a separation and perhaps a legal move for divorce, things are complicated.
