Outline of a sociological theory of art perception. It is a tool to understand the reality: the attitude to interpret art as an example of habitus and symbolic domination. In any given field individuals occupy diverse positions and gain control of resources: e. g. , the economic field, the educational field, the literary field, the political field, the cultural field, so on, individuals in the field compete for capital. By using various income strategies: competition is not always based on conscious calculation, to enter a field, one must possess the habitus (disposition to play the game) (knowledge, skill, so on) In order to enter the field one must present the habitus in order to play the game. One must possess a minimum amount of knowledge to get into the game and be accepted as a legitimate player. Must have the habitus to get there.
