Document Summary

Sociology is the systematic study of human society and social interaction; it is systematic because sociologists apply both theoretical perspectives and research methods. Sociologists study human societeies and their social interactions in order to develop theories of how human behaviour is shaoped by group life and how group life is affected by individuals. Sociology helps us gain a better understanding of ourselves and our social world. Most of us take our social life for granted and view our lives in personal terms. It helps us helps us look beyond our personal experiences and gain insights into society and the larger world of order. Examining the world helps us understand that each of us is affected by global interdependence. It provides a new way of approaching problems and can make use of sociology on a more personal level. Common sense knowledge guides ordinary conduct in everyday life, however many common sense notions are myth.
