At a time where almost all realist writers are male, most female characters are majorly one-dimensional and solely created as prop for the male protagonist. In russia during the 1800s began the discussion of women"s rights, as it was discussed in a few chapters of the novel. Sons still fall under four female archetypes; the femme fatale, the innocently shy young girl, the ridiculous unattractive girl, and traditional babushka. It is evident that the women"s level of sexual attractiveness is a key part of their personality. Sexism and bazarov"s ability to love seems to be parallel to each other in the novel, as bazarov"s falls in love the novel"s attitude towards women seems to change.
