Psychological disoders: individuals have emtions, thoughts, and behaviors that are typically maladaptive, distressing to themselves, and different from the social norm. Women are more likely then men to suffer from both depression and eating disorders. Men are more likely than women to experience different patterns of problems. Men are more likely than women to abuse alcohol and other drugs. Men are also more likely (3x times) to have antisocial disorder, which includes behaviors that clearly violate the rights of other people; these behaviors that include excessive aggressiveness, impulsiveness and lying. If we complile overall tallies, and include all inviduals with substance abuse problems- then the inciduence of psycholohical disorders in women and men is roughly similar. A person with major depressive disorder has frequenct episodes of hopelessness, and low self-esteem, this person seldom finds pleasire in any activities.
