Cohesion is not a simple process, but a multi-dimensional process, with many influences. Concept of equifinality = final state can be reached from different paths (cohesion = outcome, paths are different) Cohesion associated with satisfaction of team members, not team performance. People who are gifted in a discipline could hate each other and still out-perform a group that is cohesive. Cohesion signal the health of the group is there closeness or is there divide = satisfaction. The group that has the most skill is not always the most successful. The early definitions of cohesion reflected the notion that the unity of individuals within a group was dependent solely on an individual"s attraction to the group or team morale.
