Sex-role reversales (i. e. seahorses: because females are choosy, many males do not ever get to reproduce in their lifetimes, a few males have tons of offspring, but most have very few. Intense male competition to be a reproducer, even more to be one of the few top reproducers: most females get to reproduce to some degree during lifetime, not much female competition, care more about who they reproduce with. Polygnous species- the norm: one male can mate with several females, monogamy (1m and 1f) and polyandry (many males and 1f) rare. Sexual dimorphism: systematic difference between sexes, can be caused by, bimodal niche, sexes exploit different ecological niches, extreme competition in one sex, usually male-male competition.
